Kick-off Was A Success!

Thanks to all our Big Read participants for making our Big Read kick-off a "roaring" success!  We had about 750 Big Read fans come out to the Women's City Club on that day, including 100 Quincy Notre Dame students and about 20 Quincy University students.  All 925 copies of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald have been distributed to the community; so we are all out!  Here's a few pictures from that wonderful day:

Don't forget to come to any of our upcoming programs.  Coming up is our Roaring Twenties Film Series on Monday, September 13 at the Senior And Family Resource Center.  We will be showing Singin' in the Rain, that classic musical with Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor.  It offers a comic depiction of Hollywood, and its transition from silent films to "talkies."

Although it was a big hit when first released, it was not accorded its legendary status by contemporary critics. It is now frequently described as one of the best musicals ever made, topping the AFI's 100 Years of Musicals list, and ranking fifth in its updated list of the greatest American films in 2007.
Please remember to register to all our Big Read programs.  As of this writing, we have 60 people signed up for this film showing.
